Louisiana History:
The Causal Factors of the German Coast Insurrection of 1811
The German Coast Insurrection of 1811 was the largest slave revolt in U.S. history, but a concise study has never been documented on its existence. "The Causal Factors..." looks at the reasons behind the German Coast Insurrection, and why the slaves were able to take up arms against their masters. Further, it explores the consequences of the revolt and how it reverberated fear throughout the white community.
